Greetings, artists & crafters!
Are you looking for the right gallery and boutique? Are you sick of consignment stores that put your work on display, charge you high commission rates, and never sell?
Please consider The Wooden Cow Gallery and Art Space, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We’re actively seeking talented new Consignors for our upcoming, upscale gallery and boutique.
The Cow is here… and we want YOU!
About Us:
The Wooden Cow, LLC, is an artist-owned, artist-run co-operative, devoted to improving the lives and careers of area artists and crafters, while giving back to the community. We are a developing creative art space and we’re in the process of opening a diverse gallery, boutique, classroom space, and show space which offers more than your everyday art place.
We have an upscale shop, located at 7400 Montgomery Blvd NE (in the Mossman Center). This 2,000+ square foot show space is in prime position to entice customers who enjoy arts and crafts. We’re surrounded on all sides by established, well-respected galleries (including The Palette, The Nob Hill Art Gallery, Nambe, and Weems).
We have both floor and wall space available for showcasing your work.
How we’re different:
Many galleries and consignment shops are eager to get your work in the door, only to have it sit for months without proper advertising, promotion or sales. We’re different. We have an aggressive marketing campaign, with plans to promote all artists and craftspeople within our walls. We also have ongoing shows and special events, opening us up to even more possibilities. We also offer LOW commission, low monthly fees, and no exclusivity clause.
How to become a Consignor:
All Consignors are juried in by a panel of artists and craftspeople. In order to apply for a consignment position, you’ll need to:
**Send an email to me juryken@thewoodencow.com (the Jury Director) and let me know you’d like to apply. You may also call me at 505-353-1220, or talk to me in person.
**You will need to share photos, slides, or digital images of your work with the Jury Director. If you have .JPGs, .GIFs, or .TIFS of your work, you can email a few samples directly to juryken@thewoodencow.com. You can also provide me with links to your website, Flickr gallery, blogs, or other web pages where photos of your work can be viewed. You can also use a traditional portfolio (see below).
**You can also drop photos off in person, or mail them. Contact me for additional help with this option. The photos may be computer print-outs, standard photos, or slides. You can also use a traditional portfolio (see below).
**If possible, you can also provide an artist statement and/or artist bio via email or in person.
**You may also provide me with a traditional portfolio of your work, either print or digital.
**I will contact you to schedule a jury interview.
Jury interviews can take anywhere from 20 – 45 minutes. I will provide more information once your meeting is scheduled.
What you get as a Consignor:
**Your work will be displayed in our upscale, creative gallery and boutique.
**You may benefit from our aggressive advertising campaigns.
**You may get featured in our advertising, as an individual, named artist.
**We will work hard to advertise, sell, and promote all of our shop items, including yours.
**You get LOW commission fees, and a low monthly space rental fee (much lower than any other place in town).
**Your first month is commission-free.
**You won’t get stuck with a non-competition clause (you can show your work freely, anywhere else you want—we don’t claim exclusivity).
**A voice. All Consignors may voice ideas, concerns, suggestions, and thoughts to their Co-Op Senator, who then presents to the Founding Cows (ownership board).
Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Thanks again for your interest! We look forward to seeing your work.

Mr. Murakami;
My name is Albert Noyer and I just phoned you about my interest in becoming a consignment artist at your new gallery.
I was a member of the Turquoise Trail Co-op Gallery in Cedar Crest; you’ve juried Richard Ragle, Connie Mazzella and Kathy Shiplet, all fellow members.
I do watercolors and woodcut prints of regional themes. Let me know if you are interested and I’ll schedule an appointment with you; you can see samples of my work on my Web site; click on Artwork.
Many thanks, and best wishes for the Wooden Cow!
